Right Wing - Wired, Spar Drilled

November 8, 2020 8.0 hours Wings Building Jeremy, Samantha, Crystal

Yesterday’s planning paid off. We made a final decision on how to run the wiring, which was our major hold up. Today I did some shopping for the right pieces while Samantha began prep work for the Left wing by drilling out and deburring all the ribs and L-angle’s.

We mounted a hard plastic tube on the rear spar in which to use as a conduit for wiring. This will allow us to replace wiring later on in life (maybe a single access panel would be required). It also will keep the wiring nice, clean, plastic parts will not be riveted through for structural pieces, etc…

After this, we bolted the strut attachment point, riveted the wing tie-down, installed the trailing and leading edge skins. Once cleco’ed, we drilled the skins into the main spar, and finally did final size drilling.

Crystal helped move cleco’s around as we were doing the final size drilling as we ran out of black clecos. More are on order.
