Fuselage - Cabin Frame
Before we started on the cabin frame, we did some items that we had put off. In the rear fuselage, we had placed a few rivets that we shouldn’t have. We drilled those out and cleco’ed in the horizontal stabilizer mounting brackets so we wouldn’t make that mistake again.
We also drilled out the rivets in the nose wheel structure on the firewall. We had followed the instructions provided, but didn’t think of it until after the fact that the instructions were for the bungie system, not the puck system, which we have. We were going to complete this but found we needed a #12 drill bit and had none. We will purchase tomorrow.
We then moved on to the work needed to mount the cabin frame. First we clecoed the aft top fuselage skin in place, then worked on the doublers in the rear spar uprights, then applying cortec to various doublers and the rear spar attachment bracket. Once that was complete we moved onto the cabin frame.
We got the rear top cabin frame final size drilled and clecoed. The front downward posts we only have 1 cleco in each side holding it on.
We also clamped on the instrument panel (now that we can) and clecoed in the firewall bottom.
